Michael Letendre

Michael has been writing scholastic sports in town since 1998, freelancing for the Bristol Today, the Plainville Observer and the Bristol Press while currently the sports writer at the Bristol Observer since 2009.Other publications he’s freelanced for include the Philadelphia Daily News, the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Bucks County Courier Times (Willingboro Township, Pennsylvania), along with media outlets in New Jersey and Massachusetts. Outside of freelancing, Letendre has been the Bristol Eastern high school boys and girls basketball statistician since 1991 and is currently the football statistician for the program, starting in 2004. He was the players coordinator for the Bristol American Legion baseball team from 2005-2007 and covered the sport in print since 1999, starting with the Bristol Today. Letendre won the 2017 Connecticut American Legion Baseball Media Award for his coverage of Post 2 in the Bristol Observer and earned a citation from the program for his work in 2016. Letendre also did a weekday scholastic sports minute for Bristol Beat Radio in 2017 and has performed as a sideline football reporter for Nutmeg TV over the years.He worked in the Sports Information Department at New Hampshire College and established one at Notre Dame College (Manchester, New Hampshire) in 1998.

On a full-time basis, Letendre has been an employee of the Crowley Auto Group since 1999 and has managed the Crowley Kia Parts department since 2002.

Letendre earned his Eagle Scout badge in 1994 as a member of Troop 29, then based out of Northeast Middle school, is a graduate of Bristol Eastern high school (Class of 1994) and earned his degree in Sports Management from New Hampshire College in 1998.

Married since 2006, Michael and his wife, Danielle, welcomed Asa Jagger Letendre to the family on August 19, 2017 and live in Plainville.

Letendre is a life long Connecticut resident who has resided in Plainville, Bristol, and Terryville – covering scholastic sports in each of those towns – and has been a member of the Bristol Tramps since 2016.

The Bristol Tramps were finally able to celebrate their 50th year honoring members of Bristol’s rich sports history on September 10, 2021.
