Bristol Tramps Welcome New Committee Members

The Bristol Tramps Sports Reunion welcomes our newest committee members: Beth Kauke Lafferty and Dave Greenleaf.

Beth Kauke Lafferty, a 1980 graduate of John J. Jennings School, went on to play four sports at Bristol Eastern, volleyball, basketball, track and softball. She was All-Conference in volleyball, track and basketball while Honorable Mention All-State in the latter. The volleyball team she played on were state runners-up in 1983 and the school’s basketball team won the state title in 1984. 

Beth went on to participate in basketball, softball and tennis at the University of New Haven as a 1988 graduate. She was selected to the New England Collegiate Conference team for softball in 1987. She ended up with a .299 career batting average at New Haven and was among the all-time leaders in doubles and triples. She won softball team MVP honors in 1987 while batting .319.

David Greenleaf, a graduate of Bristol Central High school, began working for The Bristol Press as a sportswriter in 1964. In more than 40 years of covering Bristol youth and high school sports, he has had the opportunity to cover local teams in two Little League and three American Legion World Series as well as numerous state and regional championship events.

A teacher and coach at Bristol Central High School he has coached freshman soccer for more than 30 years and also coached boys track. He has served as statistician and scorer for many Bristol Central teams and is currently webmaster and scheduler for all 24 schools of the Central Connecticut Conference.

He was an official scorer for the Bristol Red Sox and has been official scorer and record keeper for the state American Legion for over 30 years. He is a member of the American Legion’s national scoring committee and has served as scorer at both regional and World Series events.  He has been affiliated with McCabe-Waters Little League for over 40 years in many capacities including player agent since 1978 and served two separate terms as president. Dave is a charter member and treasurer of the Bristol Sports Hall of Fame Board of Directors. A certified professional ski instructor, he has been Ski School Director at Otis Ridge Ski Camp in Otis, Mass. for more than 25 years.

“The Bristol Tramps Sports Reunion Committee is thrilled to have these two individuals from our community involved in our organization as we proceed into our 43rd year of Helping Preserve Bristol’s Sports History ” said Chairman John Lodovico. 

Nominations for Bristol Tramps Sports Awards are being accepted through November 19th.
